Meet The Founder
Coach G grew up in Curaçao, where baseball became his first love and lifelong calling. Signed by the Seattle Mariners at just 16 years old, he spent seven years in professional baseball, advancing all the way to the AAA level. He later extended his career in independent leagues, both as a player and a coach, and it was there that his true gift revealed itself: teaching.
After his playing days, Coach G went on to serve as a professional scout for the Minnesota Twins, where he deepened his understanding of player evaluation and what it truly takes to develop a complete athlete. That experience gave him a perspective that few coaches can offer — the ability to see potential in a player before the player even sees it in himself.
Today, as the founder of WAW Athletics, Coach G brings that same passion, humility, and vision to every athlete he trains. He believes in the fundamentals, in teamwork, and in building the kind of confidence that impacts not just baseball, but academics, careers, and character. More than anything, his work is rooted in faith — a daily reminder that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Philippians 4:13.
Coach G is not just a coach. He is a mentor, a believer, and a living example of what happens when purpose meets preparation. At WAW Athletics, that is the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.
What’s WAW:
WAW stands for Work. Aspire. Win. These three words guide everything we do.
Work
We believe that with consistent hard work, young athletes can unlock far more potential than they realize. We teach them to show up, stay disciplined, and give their best effort, on and off the field.
Aspire
We encourage our athletes to dream big and set meaningful goals for their lives. Aspire means having a vision, believing in something greater, and trusting that with dedication and faith, anything is possible.
Win
Winning is about more than the scoreboard. At WAW, a “win” means showing respect, being a great teammate, helping others, and having the courage to step outside your comfort zone. We want our athletes to develop winning character—so they grow as players and as people.
